Tea, Light, and Live Music

May 23rd, 2008

Come by for the tea stay for the music. The official title for tonight’s shindig is the Water and Light Project. Hisao Ihara and Yuko Sueta are projecting trippy, swirling images while Daddy Lion Chandell and the lovely Rhiannon, of Subatomic Sound System, add vocals to Emch’s beats. And, As an added bonus, the vocal stylings of Momoko Akiyama. Pull up a pillow and stay awhile.

Assuming most of you aren’t planning to stop by, here’s a taste of the eclectic group lounging on our plush red carpet: a white haired woman with her untidy bun held together with chop sticks seems to be working on a sewing project. Beside the seamstress sit a very tall mother and daughter (They’re visiting from Germany.). In a dark corner a young male in shorts and sunglasses seems to be contemplating his tea amidst a sea of well dressed museum visitors. As is typical of any NYC event there are as many people milling about on the street outside our little storefront as there are splayed upon the cushions inside.
