Last Day at Buddy

Last Day at Buddy

Last post I mentioned we were getting into a groove….and now it seems we’re winding down a bit. Friday came and went, signaling our last day at Buddy Gallery broadcasting on the WPBR airwaves.

And while most of Version fest was down at the Zhou B Center in Bridgeport we remained in our Wicker Park location for one last day. And it was a good one.

Linda had female to male trans-sexual Cody Las Vegas on the show to talk about the experience of changing genders in Chicago(MP3). After this series of programming from Linda some of our number have discussed the very different preconceptions around the acceptance of alternate approaches to gender that we have… coming from the environs of a city like San Francisco. We all learned quite a bit from these interviews and want to thank Marty Garcia and The House of Payne crew for helping us put the series together.

Linda filled out her hour with an interview with Chef Greene, who inexplicably discussed Chicago Cooking Schools(MP3).

Michael Starve talked about U.S. immigration policies and the pending Real ID Act . (MP3)

Lee hosted his first and only Poetic License show by moderating a discussion with David Trinidad and Tony Trigilio about their poetry journal “Court Green”.(MP3)

For Catch and Release, Jon hosted Mark Booth and Pete Rosenblum from Tiny Hairs who performed a somewhat gothic story complete with the creaking floors of Buddy gallery and some slow and brilliantly languid violin playing (MP3).

And Lee interviewed some folks who had once been involved with Redline Radio in Chicago (MP3)and then ended up with local political electro dance monsters Jitney(MP3) (Lee sincerely apologizes for continually referring to them on the air as Jitney pop) but they were totally awesome !!!!

Then we broke it all down and headed on out to Bridgeport for a final day of Version fest in the Zhou B center in Bridgeport.

Stay tuned for more info about those activities…..
