Power bills. Who needs ‘em?
Despite the fact that the power to the Buddy Gallery was cut off in the middle of the day, we still somehow managed to get a broadcast done yesterday evening. And against all odds it was quite a success.
The power came back on at the last minute when the bill was paid, thanks to the fine upstanding folks at Buddy Gallery (they even started running extension cords down from the neighbors space, in case the power did not get turned on in time) . Once we were up and running, Marty Garcia from the House of Payne rolled in to keep Linda company on the air(
MP3). A little later Searah Deysach came by from Early to Bed and talked about starting the first lesbian owned sex shop in Chicago(MP3).
As is our way, we gave the airwaves over to Michael Starve for a half hour after Linda was done (MP3) and the Poetic License show followed with an interview between Michael Trigilio and two undergraduate poetry students from Columbia College Chicago, Julie Rouse and Kristin Aardsma.(MP3)
Jon Brumit is finally here and he began his on site programming by inviting Hamza Walker, curator and director of education at the Renaissance Society at the University of Chicago to the program. He spun an incredible hour long set of music and then spent a few minutes chatting with Jon.(MP3)
Lee ended the night by interviewing Rael Bassan of Chicagoland Urban Permaculture and found out why oxygen is harmful to our bodies.(MP3)
