Chicago on Day 4
The Version festival Underground Multiplex is continuing as this is written. Lots of great video for an overwhelmed public, namely us. Truth be told we found it kinda hard to sit still for the screenings after our active day of interviews and such. But what we’ve seen has been a combination of aesthetic, social and political inspiration that we were still able to appreciate…and collect… to be presented at Artist’s Television Access on May 6th when we return.
During our broadcasts earlier in the day, Linda interviewed the folks at bancomicsans.com (MP3)
and cartoonist Kris Dresen (MP3)
. While Michael Starve discussed the fascism of Anne Coulter (see her on the cover of Time magazine). (MP3)
During the Poetic License show, Chuck Stebelton spoke about a weekly series of poetry readings at local bookstore, Myopic Books, that Michael Trigilio had recorded bits of from the night before (MP3)
.
Jon was still in transit to Chicago from Oakland, so during his usual time from 6-7pm on the air we played the audio from a video file we found here… with no explanation. (MP3)
Rumour has it that a few were actually convinced/concerned, however briefly. We apologize for any emotional distress we may have caused.
While that was playing we were visited by former Bay Area radio producer Roman Mars and his new home town co-worker Julie Shapiro. They both work for the Third Coast Festival and they gave us some small hope that through folks like them force feeding the beast that is National Public Radio, that beast may not always be quite so miserably homogenous. We live in hope. (MP3)
In other news, our friends at Enemy Combatant Radio are relaying the stream from Version05. Here’s an announcement so if you’re in the Bay Area you have no reason not to listen to our Chicago broadcast from 2 – 6 pm Pacific every day this week
We also got a little Chicago coverage from the Chicagoist website. Many thanks to the kind folks at Sfist. We owe ya one, sfist.
Oh.. and did we mention that we will be having a screening at ATA on May 6th when we return? Hope you all can make it.
