RC05: Madness! (archive)
March and madness go hand-in-hand, so it goes without saying that our March broadcast would explore the depths of our mind’s own dark making…and it’s light making and it’s angry making. For madness is lunacy, humour and anger isn’t it?
Well, NPR dished it up in all of its forms on March 10th, 2007. Take a listen to the Madness Program. . . .
Curated by NPR’s very own Linda Arnejo, the day started off with a radio-play version of Edgar Allen Poe’s “Tell Tale Heart”, which is all about an old man with an evil eye and a narrator who says he isn’t mad. The actors, including Linda, are part of Transistor Radio Theater, the same group that did “Mars is Heaven” back in November. This month’s play was directed by Luke Boyd.

Frank Prattle took madness in an artistic direction with Zefrey and guests JD Beltran and Michael Arcega talking about past and present projects and the craziness of the art world.

Next we LeE Montgomery interviewed Amy Taub, Executive Director of Creativity Explored, the Mission-based art project. Amy and LeE talked about the concept of outsider art as created by people with developmental disabilities.

Frollie Ramos came in next with his reviews of movies and music and how they deal with violence. Are we drama gaga?

Newly relocated from Colorado, DJ Shaman came on next to play some music of the drum and bass kind which got Linda boogieing around the gallery to the beat.

Next up were Whizz B and Paul Sours giving you some of the sounds of mad people so frequently heard on San Francisco’s municipal tranport system.

Big City Improv picked up the dramatic baton with the last broadcast of the day. They amused the in-gallery crowd with switching from gibberish to English, telling stories in different dramatic styles and more. Two stand-up comedians - Brandon Stone and Rusty Mahakian - took the mic for some straight-up laughs in between the improvisation.

Transistor Radio Theater sounds great!! You should do audio theater more frequently and more prominently! I’m a huge fan of modern audio theater and only found you by accident.
BTW, in case it’s news to you, check out the National Audio Theatre Festivals at NATF.org.
Cheers,
Kevin

Quick question….
I am wondering if this is the same Lee Montgomery that composed for the film Trigon: legend of Pelgidium? I’m a big fan, ran across this website and was curious?
